Lean-Green Spinach Smoothie

I have been trying to start my day off with some nutrient rich smoothies as a way to get energized for the day. Also, we know the holidays are coming so I am already working on being good 🙂

I like my veggies, but being able to hide some under some delicious fruit is wonderful and making these smoothies is probably the easiest way to make sure I get my “5 a day.”

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup grapes (red or green)
  • 1 kiwi
  • 3 cups of fresh spinach
  • 1/2 cup non-fat milk (or soy or almond)
  • 1 tsp flax-seed

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Serve and enjoy!

You can really get creative with your smoothie by adding your favorite fruits and veggies. My one big tip would be to freeze most of your fruits ahead of time so you don’t have to use ice and make your smoothie watery. If I really planned it out I would have frozen the grapes and kiwi too. Just make sure you chop it all up before freezing. Good luck trying to blend a whole frozen banana.
